Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is classic, timeless, romantic, light and airy. I aim to emphasize beauty of the little things, the simple, quiet moments, and I am very intentional when I am shooting. I use a range of techniques for evoking emotion or creating images. Some are carefully posed, some are the result of using “posing prompts” (i.e., twirl her around and bring her in for a kiss!) and many are candid. I customize my approach to the specific couple depending on their preferences.

How would you describe your editing style? Do we have input on the editing process?

I prefer crisp, airy images that are true to color with an ethereal, refined, and graceful feel. I typically edit skin tones to bring out their natural undertones and will adjust the saturation of colors as needed to ensure a consistent editing style. The editing of my digital images is more aligned with the kinds of images that film produces. I am not a “heavy editor” and my goal is to achieve a correctly exposed image in-camera (which I learned from shooting film for so many years!). Obviously this is not always the case, as there are challenging lighting situations that can’t be changed during a ceremony, for example. The more challenging lighting scenarios and resulting images do take longer to edit, but even then I am only removing distracting objects, evening out lighting/shadows and ensuring the image reflects my overall style (vs “over-editing” or heavy image manipulation).

As for the preferences you may have regarding the editing of your images, I urge clients not to rely on “fixing it in lightroom or photoshop” after-the-fact. In order to maintain the integrity of the image and provide you with authentic photographs that are consistent with my style, we do a lot of prep before the actual engagement shoot and wedding day. My focus is on making sure you feel confident and comfortable and making sure we are aligned with your vision. Communicate with me prior to and during the shoot. If you have a “good side” I want to know about it! I will shoot in the most flattering way possible (using lighting, specific lenses, angles, composition, posing, etc.) and will be very sensitive to your preferences. I will certainly re-touch images that are close-up (ie., removing blemishes, smoothing skin), so no need to worry about that!

How quickly do you respond to emails?

I typically respond to emails or messages within 24 hours. (Sometimes even within a couple of hours, depending on the day!)

Why type of camera do you use?

I shoot with a mirrorless Canon EOS R6.

Will you bring back-up equipment to the wedding?

ABSOLUTELY! I am the queen of “what if…” so I like to be prepared. I have 2 identical camera bodies. I will usually carry both with me as I am shooting so I can have two different lenses and don’t have to stop every few minutes to switch lenses. This is also a back-up plan in case of equipment failure. If one camera or memory card fails (this is rare, but it can happen), I have the back-up camera. I carry a case of memory cards, back-up batteries and battery chargers, and multiple lenses! (I have 6 unique, high-quality lenses that I bring with me to all engagement shoots and weddings). I also have off-camera flashes with extra batteries, light modifiers, and light stands.

I also typically have my second shooter with me, who has 2 camera bodies and a variety of lenses and back-up equipment! We’ve got you covered in case of emergency.

Do you help with posing?

Yes. I can give you as much (or as little) guidance with posing as you’d like. I will scout out the best location first, depending on the lighting, and then I will teach you several core poses. There are variations of these core poses that will ensure variety in your gallery, even if we only get to use one location or one outfit. If you are a Pinterest scroller and you’ve seen poses you’d like to try for inspiration, let’s do it! I usually have poses in mind depending on your preferences and our conversations before the shoot. Are you a more playful, silly couple? Or would you prefer more serious, intimate poses? Do you prefer candid shots and documentary-style images? We will dive into this more before the shoot.

Can we see samples of previous wedding galleries?

Yes! I have 3 separate wedding galleries on the portfolio page of my website for you to review. The highlights I’ve selected to include in these galleries will give you a good idea of what you can expect your gallery to look like. Click here to visit the portfolio now!

How many images do I get?

On average, I deliver 50 – 75 fully-edited images per hour of shooting. So, if you book me for a 6 hour wedding day, you will receive anywhere from 300 – 450 images. I don’t focus as much on the number of images because my focus is on quality, album-worthy images. This is what I mean when I say a “carefully curated” gallery.

Do you offer videography?

No, videography is not included in any of my packages currently.

How do you handle coordination with a videographer if we have one?

I love coordinating with other vendors! Typically I will communicate with the videographer at the beginning of the day to see how we can best work together to serve you and stay out of each other’s shot.

Do you design my wedding album?

Yes! This is something I love to do for my couples. It’s one thing to deliver your images, but to see the images in an album, telling your story? *cue happy tears*

I try to keep your wedding album process as simple as possible. In your gallery, you will “favorite” the images that you want in your album. I will go ahead and design an album using the images you’ve selected. Once I’ve put everything together, I will email you a link to view the album. At that time, I like to hop on the phone and talk about any changes you’d like to make or answer any questions you have. I will then make those changes and send you a final preview of your album. Once you approve the album design, I submit it to the professional photo lab for printing.

You have access to view choices for album cover material, debossing, type and thickness of paper, etc., through the online store in your wedding gallery.

What if I want to design the album myself?

You are more than welcome to design your own wedding album! The online store through your wedding gallery has a very intuitive album-designing option where you can select images and design it yourself.

And I can't wait to work with you! I'm a New England Wedding Photographer for couples who value authenticity and connection as much as I do.

Aside from my love for photography, I can probably tell you more than you ever needed to know about over 20 varieties of apples. I was born and raised on an apple orchard in North Scituate, RI. Ironically, I am deathly allergic to bees. *face palm* God has a great sense of humor.

I'm a cat mom to two adorable fur-babies, Mia and Ari, who are technically cats but definitely act more like dogs. I'm also Auntie to an absolutely amazing 3-year-old princess named Addy, and her 5-month-old side-kick named Carter!

My personal goal for 2023: to become a “morning person.” How it’s going so far…um…let’s just say it’s already 2024 and there’s room for improvement.
